Fleece - Cinnamon SpiceGrower: Rustic Roots Farm
Price: $75.00 ( 1 )Available (Exact): 1
Description: This listing is for Cinnamon Spice. She is a top notch, Shetland fleece. Her coloring is a warm brown cinnamon color. She is an adult fleece. She is a pretty soft brown fleece. She has a 3 inch staple length (locks) and weighs 2 lbs. 14 oz.
Raw fleeces are 100% organic Shetland wool (raised without pesticides or other chemical treatments) raised here on the farm from our flock of sheep. Shetland wool is famously soft yet durable. They hail from the Shetland Islands just north of the coast of Scotland. They are considered a primitive breed of sheep and are typically smaller sheep in size. They are hardy in most climates (they fare well here in Michigan) and are good nurturers to their young. Shetland wool became famous from Shetland sweaters sold at L.L. Bean and Lands’ End. Shetland fleeces come in many varied natural colors ranging from pure white to shades of gray, (light grays, blue-grays, steel gray), shades of brown (fawns, golden browns, reddish browns, grayish browns, dark browns) and black. Some fleeces may be spotted or marked with different colors.
Raised and processed in Michigan. Shetland wool is great for spinning, felting or any other type of wool products. It has been cleaned by hand picking and skirted but not washed.
Rustic Roots Farm is now part of the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em initiative. We are listed in the Livestock Conservancy breeders directory. It’s a great program encouraging folks to raise and sell wool from their heritage breeds listed on the Conservation Priority List. Please mention if you are supporting this program and would like the stamps to earn gift certificates and coupons through the Livestock Conservancy.
