Washtenaw Organic Collaborative - Feedback Survey for 2021

Dear friends

Shannon (of Brines Farm), Kristen (of Raindance Farm), and I (Kim at Slow Farm) have been taking stock of our efforts with the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative (WOC) over the past year and considering the year ahead. To be brief, we would greatly appreciate feedback about your experience with WOC in 2020. This survey linked below should take about 5 minutes to complete and will guide us as we plan for 2021:

WOC FEEDBACK SURVEY LINK HERE

The longer story is: we started the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative together in the spring of 2020 as a response to the global corona virus pandemic. Although starting this online market was a huge challenge with many unknowns, we wanted to bring the safest food in the safest way to our community. And we joined with others who share our values to create this resource for local food from conscientious producers, with goals of promoting health and strengthening our local food system.

With your support, we persevered and had a successful year in 2020. Now we are ordering seeds and developing crop plans for 2021. With the pandemic still raging, we feel that there is still a need for the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative. We would like your input to develop a closer fit with our community’s needs.

Below is a link to a survey that will help us understand what worked and what could improve for WOC, and will inform us about what to provide in the year ahead. The survey should take about 5 minutes and we would appreciate if you could respond by January 27th. Thank you so much for your participation, love, and support.

Dear friends

Just a reminder that today 12/16/20 is the last day for ordering from the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative. The final no-contact pickup of the year at Slow Farm will be this Saturday 12/19/20 from 9am-11:30am. We are shortening the hours because it is going to be cold!! Porch pick up all day at Brines Farm.

There are still some lovely things to order for year-end festivities, including greens, live trees, and herbs, along with absolutely beautiful dessert treats (like maple syrup marshmallows!!) and sustainable wild caught fish from our newest producers including:

- Warda Patisserie – a small Detroit based pâtisserie making sophisticated, hand-crafted seasonal pastries influenced by travels and life in Algeria, France and Asia.

AND

- Shoreline Wild Salmon – wild Alaskan line-caught salmon and fish (*order with them directly for pickup at Slow Farm).

Wishing you the best for the holidays and thank you so much for all your support this year!

Special Holiday Market (Order now thru Dec. 16th for pickup Dec. 19th)

* HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE WASHTENAW ORGANIC COLLABORATIVE!! *

Reminder that we’ve decided to hold one final holiday market for this year! You can order now through Dec. 16th with no-contact pickup on Saturday, Dec. 19th.

NEW! This month we are thrilled to be adding 2 new producers who offer the most delicious and most conscientious food available anywhere:
- Warda Patisserie – a small Detroit based pâtisserie making sophisticated, hand-crafted seasonal pastries influenced by travels and life in Algeria, France and Asia
- Shoreline Wild Salmon – wild Alaskan line-caught salmon and fish (*see note on the Market page for information on how to place order)

We started the weekly market as a collaboration among Brines Farm, Raindance Organic Farm and Slow Farm, and have been extremely grateful for the strong support we’ve received from our community. We’ve gathered strength and resilience in navigating the COVID pandemic by adding other farmers and producers who share our values including:
- Baseline Farm – truly grass-fed pastured beef
- Bird Dog Baking – diverse, local, wholegrain breads and bakery items
- Dancer Creek Farm – family farmed livestock
- Little House Homestead – free range eggs
- Rustic Roots Farm – family farm dedicated to bees, sheep, chickens, gardening, and woodworking

When you make a purchase through the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative you are directly supporting local food businesses (mostly women-owned!) who value sustainable and regenerative practices, the highest standards of care for employees, animals, soil, and waters and long-term commitment to our communities. Thank you for your support and for all that you do to create the world as it should be.

We are wishing you and yours a very safe, healthy, and restorative holiday season.

Hope to see you on the 19th!
